Know Thy Health By Lynda Hadley We all love living here in Lake Ashton, we enjoy our free time and the ability to create the life we’ve imagined. We feel good! But, wouldn’t you like to feel great!? Think of your body as a machine. It needs fuel to operate and a little maintenance to ensure that it’s able to run effectively. Food is our fuel, and the quality of the food we eat determines how well our body reacts to our daily activities, as well as the way you look and feel. If you feel tired, or weak, or maybe dealing with brain fog; you may be malnourished. Then there’s the maintenance or fitness aspect of health that focus on maintaining flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina. These aspects of health will gradually decline with age if we don’t incorporate them into our lifestyle. It may seem daunting but it doesn’t take hours in the gym to see and feel the benefits. Start with baby steps. Drink a little more water, incorporate a little more fruits and vegetables. Chose more baked or grilled foods rather than fried. Walk more (even around the house), take deep breaths, try gentle stretching or yoga. Everything has a beginning. So let’s start this journey with an honest evaluation of where we are; then find ways to incorporate new healthier habits that will get us where we want to be. SUMMER LINE DANCING CLASS Instructor: Lorrrie Shearin Class will be held every Thursday at the HFC through September 28. 1 pm Beginner Class: Everyone is welcome, no experience needed.
