LAKE ASHTON PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION (LAPA) By Becky Wilson Memorial Day afternoon 73 LAPA members and guests gathered for some socialization and fun, not on the courts! There was a lot of chatting, laughing, and catching up going on. It’s always fun when spouses who don’t play pickleball can join the mix! President Chuck Caesar welcomed everyone and gave special recognition and thanks to those in attendance who had given service to our Country. There was a moment of silence to remember and TAKE CHARGE OF LIFE’S TRANSITIONS honor those who gave their lives and to whom we will always remember and be grateful. After a blessing by Ro Thornburg everyone enjoyed delicious food supplied by those in attendance. Fun and games included the “Flip-Flop Paddle,” won by John Savala. The“No-Flip Paddle” challenge for non-pickleball players was won by Helen Eakins. Jackie Tanner won the “Jugglers Delight, and Bev Hines won the “Basket Dink. Finally, “Move That Pickle,” a relay race with two couples at opposite ends of the dance floor, was won by Rick and Kristie McKibben and Robbie and Tammy Shields. Tammy Shields also won the Hula Hoop challenge! When the games ended, awards were given, and smiles were on faces. Members in attendance completed a survey on goals for the coming months. A survey was sent out to any member unable to attend. The next gardening meeting will be this coming September. New to Florida? Love gardening, but things here don’t grow the same? Members are always willing to help. There are many experts, novices and beginners all with the same goal; to garden.
