STORM SEASON BEGINS LIGHTNING SAFETY All residents who will be spending the summer months in Florida should prepare for severe weather. A detailed list of storm tips can be found at lakeashtoncdd.com under additional district documents and at the Clubhouse Information Wall. This is a good time to ensure trees on your property are trimmed to avoid potential projectiles during a storm. Residents noticing areas needing to be trimmed in conservation areas should email Matt at mfisher@lakeashtoncdd.com. Lake Ashton Community Development District is the only entity that can perform maintenance in these areas. Please include your name, phone number, address, and a small description of the area in question. Staff will conduct a site visit and determine what steps need to be taken. Lake Ashton has a lightning detection system to alert golfers to get off the course, and notify residents to go indoors when the potential for a lightning strike is in the area. When the system senses a lightning danger, a high-pitched siren sounds and strobe lights turn on and stay on until the danger passes. These strobe lights are at various locations including on top of the Clubhouse, the backside of the HFC and at the boat dock on Lake Ashton. A low-pitched horn will sound the all clear and the strobe lights will turn off when lightning has passed. Be safe, and remember that lightning strikes may occur far away from a visible storm. Get out of pools, do not stand under trees, and get indoors when the siren sounds. Please remember that golf carts are not safe from lightning. ART’S GOLF CARS, INC. The Fun Starts Here!
