CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock The holidays are over and it’s time to relax and enjoy the cooler weather. This is also a good time of year to pick up the camera and capture what our community and surrounding area have to offer. Club photo shoots will take place at various locations this season. The January 12th meeting will be held at 10:30 am in the Cinema. Be sure to bring along a USB drive with a few of your favorite holiday photos to share with the group. LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB By Howard Mayne The Lake Ashton Democratic Club will hold their next monthly meeting Thursday, January 8 in the HFC Community Center at 6:30 pm with social time at 6 pm. LA REPUBLICAN CLUB By Bud Colburn January's meeting, along with elections for Vice President and Secretary, will feature Dennis Schoeppner, who will give a briefing and a practical demonstration on hand-counting ballots; its procedure and simplicity. You will get to experience how easy and fast the procedure is, along with the reasons why this topic is so important. We will meet Wednesday, January 28th at the Clubhouse. Check-in and social time starts at 3:30 pm and the meeting begins at 4 pm. Guests are welcome! LA SINGLES CLUB By Joan Collins Come join this fun and exciting group. We meet on the 1st Sunday of every month at 2pm in the clubhouse ballroom. We plan activities and discuss the activities we just enjoyed. We then play Five Crown cards enjoying the companionship and fun of this group. Recently, we enjoyed going to National Encounters Training facility. The birds there are exquisite and fun to watch. The trainers are amazing and know the bird’s 33 personalities and how they will react. We donated Christmas gifts to the Senior Orphans in Polk County. Social workers provided a list of items that were needed and wanted. If you live in Lake Ashton and you’re single and looking for good conversations and fun, join us. Also, on the fourth Thursday of the month at 4pm, we meet at the pavilion to socialize. Give Lake Ashton Singles a try. MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Lynne Judd The members of the Magic Years Club certainly enjoyed the holiday season! On December 8, instead of a regular meeting, members got together for a Disney holiday party at the home of Debbie and Pat Rapp. Everyone contributed an appetizer or a dessert and enjoyed a tour of the Rapps' home to see the beautiful Disney decorations and Christmas trees. A heartfelt thank you to the Rapps! Then two days later, many of us met for dinner at the Columbia Restaurant in Celebration. All enjoyed the food and afterwards got to see it snow (in Florida!) in the Town Square. It was great to get together. Our next meeting will be on January 12, 2026 at 7:00 pm in the HFC Craft Room. All are welcome who are Disney fans or just want to learn more about Disney. Bring your thinking caps to answer some Disney trivia questions! Due to the Quilts of Honor Presentation at 6:30, we are meeting at 6 pm so that we can finalize plans for the Tag Sale.
