Your health and fitness are always a priority for Lake Ashton’s Health & Fitness Center, and we are happy to offer a variety of fitness programs to suit our active senior residents. Be sure to look for our monthly calendar outlining our ongoing and popular exercise classes to help you start out the new year feeling stronger and more energized. “Elvis is in the building” January 9, at 6:00 pm at the HFC. Join us for an Elvis ‘Impersonator’ birthday bash and a fun night. Stop by the activities desk to reserve your table. Residents can also pay at the door for this BYOB event. Prizes will be awarded for the three best ‘Elvis’ look-alike costumes. We have also scheduled a series of educational seminars for the first quarter of 2026, beginning on January 13 with a seminar on Cryptocurrency and fraud, presented by the Polk County AARP representative. Along with this seminar, other topics include “What’s APP” and “Writing your Memoirs using Technology, as well as trouble-shooting your Android or iPhone. Be sure to look for emails announcing the scheduled dates, and as a reminder, residents can visit the HFC Activities Desk or call 863-595-1562 to register. Be sure to mark your calendar for the LA IICDD meeting that will take place on January 15th at 9:00 am. The meeting is open to all LA Winter Haven residents. You can attend in person or via ZOOM. Note: Information on how to log onto ZOOM for access is sent a day or so in advance of all LA IICDD meetings. Mark your calendar for the HFC Annual Health Expo, which takes place January 23, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. We look forward to a record number of vendors who always provide generous door prizes as well as helpful information on a variety of health and wellness issues. You do not have to be present to win prizes, but you do have to attend the Health Expo to register and be eligible for these prizes. I look forward to making a difference in 2026, and I, along with the LA IICDD Board of Supervisors, my valuable team of employees, and volunteers, want to wish you a happy and healthy new year for 2026.
