CLUBS BOCCE BALL By Vicki Creek Community Bocce Ball has become a very popular sport here at Lake Ashton. If you know the Lake Ashton Bocce Rules, you are welcome to join on the Bocce Courts located next to the Clubhouse on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 10:30 am. If you aren’t familiar with the rules please contact Carl and Linda Boast at 540-297-7336 for an introductory lesson. “Many a friendship has been made on the bocce courts!” Hope to see you there! CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock As the new year begins the Camera Club is looking forward to resuming a full schedule of outside activities and guest speakers. The January 10 meeting will feature a presentation by club member Ron McKie on using a DSLR camera for making videos. In February we have a boat trip scheduled on the chain of lakes. Additional activities are being planned. If you are a Lake Ashton resident who enjoys photography you are welcomed to attend the meetings which are held on the second Monday of the month at 10:30 am in the Clubhouse Cinema. CO-ED BOOK CLUB By Margie Dersham A few openings are available in the Coed Book Club held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Clubhouse/Card Room at 7 pm. LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB By Shelley Miller The Lake Ashton Democratic Club is holding their next monthly meeting January 6 via Zoom and inperson at the HFC. Social time with snacks is from 4 to 4:30 pm. Please bring your own beverage. The inperson general meeting and Zoom will start at 4:30. January speaker is Kait Thomson, Director of Government Relations and Community Engagement for Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida. Officer elections for Vice President, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and two board seats (in-person only) will be held. DUPL ICATE BRIDGE By Don Fuller A duplicate bridge game is held every Monday in the Ballroom from 12:45 pm until approximately 3:30. Players of all levels are welcome. Thank you. The next meeting is scheduled for January 12 at 10 am in the Pavilion. The meeting's focus will be on how to use pressed flowers/plants to create a lasting creation. Sil Wells presented ways to press and use them in many formats at the December meeting. From framed art, to bookmarks and even flowers on candles, it's a great way to keep enjoying the garden.
