CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock will be speaking on the uses of technology in space and its future for the United States. Guests are sincerely welcomed! LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB By Howard Mayne The next meeting of the Lake Ashton Democratic Club will be on Thursday February 5 at 6:30 pm, with social time starting at 6. Our speaker will be Lake Ashton resident Michael Lee. Michael will present a non-political talk entitled “Lake Ashton: One Community, One CDD.” This concerns the proposal from several residents to merge LACDD and LAIICDD into a single governing body. Guest speaker will be retired US Air Force LT General Steve Kwast. LTG Kwast retired as commander of Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, and was responsible for the recruiting, training and education of Air Force personnel. The Command trains more than 293,000 students per year with approximately 60,000 active-duty, Reserve, Guard, civilian and contractor personnel. A pilot since 1990, he has more than 3,300 flying hours, including more than 650 combat hours during operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Allied Force and Enduring Freedom. LTG Kwast earned a Master’s degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in Public Policy and has been a University President (Air University) and the President of the number one startup company in America (Genesis Systems). He 32 MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Lynne Judd The Magic Years Club is a group of Disney enthusiasts who welcome all newcomers interested in learning about Disney or sharing their knowledge about any aspect of it. At the January 12th meeting, we had a lively discussion about all the current closures as well as the timelines for reopening of attractions and rides. Tips and tricks, including potential discounts, were also discussed as well as what Disney Vacation Club is and its potential benefits. We had our usual Disney trivia questions, with contributions from our members such as "What is the only Disney movie where the title character never speaks?" (Dumbo). There will be a movie showing at the Clubhouse on February 21 at 6:30 pm. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, February 9th, at 7 pm in the HFC Craft Room.
