LAKE ASHTON KREWE By Gina Krall Our very own Lake Ashton Mardi Gras Krewe will once again be participating in the annual Lake Wales Mardi Gras Parade. The parade kicks off at 3 pm on Saturday, February 14 on the downtown streets of Lake Wales. The LA Krewe is the largest in the parade and won first place last year for our elaborate Mardi Gras theme which included a convertible carrying the King and Queen, decorated truck with entertainer Diana belting out popular jazz tunes, the LA Ashtonettes and the LA Shakers along with our Ambassadors as they proudly carry our name on banners and our Knights as they ensure the safety of the crowd and our krewe as we pass by the massive crowds. QUI LT SHOW Come join us at the Bi-annual Creative Quilters' Quilt Show to be held February 25 in the Lake Ashton Clubhouse Ballroom. The Show will be open to the public from 10 am - 2 pm. All quilts and sewing projects will be made by Lake Ashton residents. Also, on display will be Blankets of Love of Lake Ashton (BOLLA), Beading projects, Quilts of Valor and Heartfelt Hugs projects. Also made by Lake Ashton residents. New this year, there will be a table with quilts available for purchase!!! If you have a quilt that you have made, are a Lake Ashton resident, that you would like to display and you are not a member of these groups, please call Marsha or Max (see numbers below). HOME IMPROVEMENT EXPO A wide variety of vendors to aid in many different home improvement needs will be exhibiting in the Clubhouse Ballroom February 20 from 10 am to 1 pm. They range in expertise from solar paneling, windows, air conditioning, to house cleaning, electrical and so much more. Free event! Sign up online by March 13 for the LA Cruise-In on March 22 from 2 pm to 5 pm in the Clubhouse West Parking Lot. Visitors can enjoy classic and modern cars alike as well as live music from The Dukes. The categories for prizes are Best Classic (pre-1989), Best Modern (post-1989), and Crowd Favorite. Sign up online by March 13.
