Even with four pickleball courts now available there are often residents waiting to get their turn at this ever-growing and popular sport. Other activities included our Friday night dance with J & the Two Tones, and the annual Health & Fitness Expo that is always a big hit. A big thank you to the vendors and residents who attended, as well as the HFC staff and volunteers who added to its overall success. The holidays are over, and quite a few of our residents are already getting a ‘jump’ on their future by starting out the year with better health and fitness habits. Keep it fun and exciting by varying your routine. While we are speaking of better health, the medical community reminds us that flu season is here, and to minimize germs from spreading, there are a few simple things we can all do, like washing our hands regularly and avoid touching your face; especially your eyes and nose. Getting plenty of rest, eating healthier foods, and exercising two to three times a week can be helpful as well. There are also several hand sanitizing stations located throughout the building for your use. For additional information and a more comprehensive list of help aids during this flu season you may also wish to visit https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevention/actions-prevent-flu.html. A special note: When using the fitness center please use the disinfectant spray before and after utilizing the exercise equipment. February 7th might be a little early for Valentine’s Day, but Blind Ambition, an acoustic classic rock band, is sure to provide lively entertainment at the HFC. Stop by the activities desk to reserve your table. Residents can also pay at the door for this BYOB event. Want to know more about the activities at the Health & Fitness Center, why not stop by and check out the wall kiosk near the activities desk? Flyers provide information on individual activities, sponsored by the HFC or your fellow residents. There is also a box for Pickleball events and membership dues, and plenty of sign-up sheets for a variety of activities. You can also find the current calendar of events in the glass front case adjacent to the kiosk along with other information that may be of interest to you, and don’t forget to watch for ongoing emails. Other conveniences include a box for Winter Haven’s HOA, and a mail pickup box to the left of the front entrance door, with mail being picked up Monday through Saturday normally between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. I look forward to 2025 and invite you to stop by to say hello, or if you have a question or concern, please let me know.
