May this festive time be filled with joy, reflection, and celebration of the rich tapestry of cultures that enrich our community and nation. All levels of expertise are welcome. Questions? Call Jane at 815-545-6655. SINGLES CLUB By Carol Corley There was a good turnout at our November meeting, where single Lake Ashton residents planned upcoming activities, such as our Christmas Party, our monthly Thursday afternoon Mingle, and weekly card games. Cards are every Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Clubhouse Ballroom. The Singles Club also adopts Senior Orphans and provides Christmas gifts for them. The Senior Orphans are elderly Polk County residents who have no family and are on a very low income scale. The gifts requested by these people are usually very simple and necessary, like blood pressure cuffs and sometimes pajamas or even food for a pet. Our club members either choose gifts to purchase or donate money to help with the cost. Hope to see some of you at a future meeting. You would be most welcome.
