POND SAFETY REMINDER Visitors are not permitted to wade or release pets into any of the ponds located within Lake Ashton. Not only is there a potential of encountering alligators and venomous snakes, harmful germs may be present as well. The FWC recommends keeping pets 10' away from the water. Call the FWC's Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (392-4286) if you have concerns about an alligator that poses a threat to humans, pets or property. Remember, it is illegal to feed or harass alligators. CAP By Mike Weissberg Citizens Assisted Patrol (CAP) is always looking for more volunteers to patrol the streets once a week for two hours. Come help be the eyes, ears, and presence for the Sheriff’s department. Applications are available in the Clubhouse and HFC. More information: Mike Weissberg, 863-324-3541. ROAD SAFETY REMINDERS The shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice, is December 21. When walking or bicycling, especially at night, remember to "Be Safe and Be Seen: Make Yourself Visible to Drivers.” Use lights and reflective gear. Those on bicycles should be riding with the flow of traffic, meaning they should always be on the right side of the road. Walkers/ runners should be going against the flow of traffic, always being on the left side of the road. All vehicles, including golf carts, must obey all stop signs and the 20 mph speed limit throughout Lake Ashton. Drivers, watch for pedestrians at all times.
