CARING TREE By Larry & Joanne Hillock Winter Haven. All gifts are distributed to seniors residing in Polk County. All gifts need to be turned in to the HFC by December 8. Thank you to all of the Lake Ashton residents who have donated their new, unwrapped gifts for the Caring Tree so far. Every gift means someone in need in the Lake Wales area will have a much brighter holiday season. You are not restricted to only buying what's on the tag. They are only a suggestion. Feel free to buy whatever you feel the recipient would enjoy. Gift cards are always welcome, especially for teenagers. Leave your gift cards with the activities desk staff. Please remember that the last day to bring in your gift is December 17. This will allow time to distribute the items. BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR By Kathryn Jusaites Stop by the HFC and take a tag off the tree and BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR sponsored by Home Instead of HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE For the month of December non-perishable food donations will be accepted all month long to be donated to Lake Wales Care Center. TOYS FOR TOTS By Fred & Cynthia Halde Did you know that the "Toys for Tots of Polk County" won special recognition last year for its contribution of toys for the community? Did you know that Lake Ashton was a significant contributor of toys to this cause? Did you know the Toys for Tots box is now up and open in the HFC and will be till the middle of December? Well, now you know! Lake Ashton is such a great and generous community, so the hope is you will again respond with your gifts and put a smile on the face of a child this holiday. It’s off to a great start! May the giving continue. Many thanks, Lake Ashton! Questions? Call 231-343-0638. MEDIA CENTER NEWS By Mary Blue The Media Center volunteers would like to welcome all the new and returning winter residents. The Media Center is for everyone's use. Taking out books is on the honor system. No checkout needed. Please return books and puzzles and place on the cart for the volunteers to reshelve. All donations are appreciated, however, because of space we do not take cookbooks, medical books, or books that are not in good condition. If you have a large donation, please let us know before bringing them to the media center. Call the office or Mary Blue at 605 261 4416. We are especially in need of any large print books you would like to donate. Enjoy the media center!
