September 8: Supervisor of Elections - Melony Bell September 29: Polk County Commissioner Rick Wilson and Polk County Roads and Drainage Director Jay Jarvis November 10: Resident Author Cary Davis CARY R. DAVIS, AUTHOR Drawing on his experiences as a U.S. Army veteran and former sniper, Cary R. Davis delivers a unique and intense perspective in his debut novel, Arcturus. Set against the backdrop of the first Gulf War, the story initially unfolds as a raw war narrative before venturing into the bizarre and ultimately the terrifying. With Arcturus, Davis establishes himself as a compelling new voice in war fiction. Originally from Pittsburgh, Davis served in the United States Army where he not only jumped out of perfectly good aircraft with the 82nd Airborne, but was also one of the Army’s top snipers. A father of three, Davis now lives in Lake Ashton with his wife Lynn, and little dog Lulu where he slings words and oil paint full-time. Don’t miss his special presentation at Monday Coffee November 10 at 9 am in the Clubhouse Ballroom! SMART SOCIAL MEDIA: SHARE THOUGHTFULLY, READ CAREFULLY While social media can facilitate connections and information sharing, it also presents significant challenges to community well-being. Concerns include the spread of misinformation, cyberbullying, and the erosion of face-to-face interactions. Social media can exacerbate existing social divisions and contribute to mental health issues. Please be cautious when posting things on social media or using these platforms to gather information. Some things may be true while others are not. It is recommended to reach out to Staff (contact information on page 3) or Supervisors (contact information on page 5 and 6) with any concerns or questions.
