LA SINGLES By Carol Corley Last month’s meeting of the Lake Ashton singles club was well attended. We discussed our enjoyment of Camp Lake Ashton as well as final touches for Christmas in July for needy local senior orphans. The group meets the first Sunday of every month at 2 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom. This month we also planned a monthly dinner at Catfish Country in Lakeland. Recently we enjoyed a lunch at L’Incontro in Lake Wales. We are also looking into activities that can be done as a group, like movies, or trips to places such as the Aquarium in Tampa. On weekends when we are not meeting, we still get together at 2 pm in the Ballroom for cards. Following the meeting, members enjoyed playing Five Crown, a fun card game. We are open to other options as well. And after cards, we had dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Different restaurants are chosen for each Sunday. Our club is open to Lake Ashton single residents. LAVA AUXILIARY By Chris Graves Our next meeting is September 21 (no meeting in August — enjoy the summer)! Save the Date for the Craft Fair on October 25 — all Vendor Tables have been sold which means that you will once again have the Ballroom filled with handcrafted items like quilts, custom pens, cards, jewelry, handmade chocolate, wreaths and other hand-crafted items. We have vendors from previous years as well as new vendors. The Craft Show will benefit K9 Partners for Patriots. BAKERS FOR THE CRAFT SHOW NEEDED! The Craft Show Bake Shop continues to be a big draw for attendees. Last year’s Bake Shop sold more than $1,000 in home-baked goods. The top items sold were cookies, banana bread (sold out last year), pies and cakes. Please help us again by signing up to donate baked goods. Call Debbie Platt 863-318-9376. More details to follow in September’s newsletter. WWW.BROCKSWINDOWCLEANING.COM 29
