RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT By Marianne Zak Lynda Hadley of Dunmore Drive, joined the Army at eighteen, "to make more out of my life". As a Signal Communications Specialist, she was tasked with setting up communication in military field tactical operations. She realized her duties would place her at a high risk of becoming "one of the first targets!". The Army taught her decision-making skills and the confidence to think on her feet. The extreme physical demands of her assignment as a Wire Systems Operator caused repeated injury to her neck and back. This eventually led to degenerative damage to her spine and she was diagnosed with Myofacial Pain Syndrome. Lynda is now a disabled veteran who is determined to live a full life in spite of her chronic pain and physical limitations. While visiting her father in Lake Wales, Lynda discovered Lake Ashton, and she "fell in love with the small town atmosphere". Known as a giver, "whatever it is, I want to make it better". Lynda became an HOA Board Member and volunteered at the Activities Desk. As a talented woodworker and designer, she has built sets for LA parties (The Pirate, Valentines, Octoberfest, etc.), as well as volunteering for the Activities Committee and LAPAC for the Haunted House and Talent Show sets. As the 2024 president of The Black Heritage Club, Ly n d a s u c c e s s f u l l y spearheaded the first Juneteenth event. She diligently worked building the decorations for what may become a tradition here in Lake Ashton! Lynda earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from CALU in Sports Management and was a Personal Fitness Trainer and Health Coach for over twenty years. She has written articles on health and fitness for the "LA Times", sharing her knowledge and inspiring residents to stay healthy.
