SAFETY CAP By Mike Weissberg Since all residents are part of Neighborhood Watch you are watching things around you. Citizens Assisted Patrol (CAP) does this by patrolling our streets. Our job is to look for things that do not belong in our community. Our presence with our lights flashing while patrolling our streets is our deterrent to help keep our streets safe. CAP is always looking for more volunteers to patrol our streets. Our job is to be the eyes, ears and presence for the Sheriff’s Department. Patrols are once a week for two hours. Applications are available in the Clubhouse and HFC. For more information contact Mike Weissberg 917-482-3151. DRIVER SAFETY REMINDER Polk County Schools start back August 11. Please use caution when traveling CR 653 during school opening and closing times. All vehicles, including golf carts, must obey all stop signs and the 20 mph speed limit throughout Lake Ashton. Drivers, please keep an eye out for pedestrians at all times. Obeying posted speed limit and traffic signs can help avert a potential tragedy. Adults should not place young children on their laps between them and the steering wheel as this creates a hazardous condition for the children in the case of a panic stop or accidents.
