LAKE ASHTON CONTINUING EDUCATION SERIES ( LACES) April has been formally recognized as Water Conservation Month in Florida for the past 22 years, as April is typically a dry month when water demands are higher due to springtime planting. Come to the Clubhouse Ballroom on April 20 at 1 pm to learn more about water conservation and how you can help. Julie Schleb, Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Coordinator with UF/IFAS Extension Polk County will educate residents on local water conservation efforts and identify water-saving and water-wasting behaviors. Residents will also become familiar with local ordinances and strategies that aid in the conservation of water, learn what makes a device "water-efficient", become familiar with strategies that will help detect leaks in the home, and learn about water conservation strategies that will lead to high water savings. WOMEN’ S BAS IC SELFDEFENSE CLASS In this class presented by the Polk County Sheriffs Office, ladies will learn basic safety tips and techniques to enable them to escape less than desirable situations. Are you interested in learning how to paint with watercolor? If so, here is an opportunity to learn with artist Freddie Combs. Join these half day classes to learn the basics of color and paint application.
