I ONCE CAUGHT A FISH THIS BIG! When Is the Best Time to Go Fishing? According to almanac.com, the best times to fish are when the fish are naturally most active. The Sun, Moon, tides, and weather all influence fish activity. For example, fish tend to feed more at sunrise and sunset, and also during a full moon (when tides are higher than average). With that being said, we would like to see what fish residents are catching at Lake Ashton! Send a picture of any fish caught in ponds or lakes in Lake Ashton, along with your name, the lake or pond that it was caught in, as well as the type of fish caught and any measurements you may have (length and/or weight) to Valerie at valerie@lakeashtoncdd.com. The cost is $130. The check can be made out to Polk County Public Schools. So far this year the donations are behind so your consideration is appreciated. These are hard times for everyone especially mentally. You can imagine the difficult time for these kids this summer since all aid stops once they graduate. 12 What away to celebrate their accomplishment! Remember any amount of donat ion i s appreciated. PO O L TEM P ERATU RE The Arthritis Association recommends a temperature of 83-88 degrees as the ideal temperature range for outdoor pools. Although staff strives to keep the pool temperature constant there are times when the temperature could fluctuate based on many factors such as air temperature, wind speed and humidity, all of which affect the rate of heat loss from the pool. Residents with concerns regarding pool maintenance should contact Christine Wells, Lake Ashton (LW) CDD Community Director, or Mary Bosman, Lake Ashton (WH) CDD Community Director for more information. PHOTO CONTEST The Fine Arts and Photography Show proved that there are many talented photographers at Lake Ashton. Have you ever just stopped during a golf cart ride and taken a beautiful picture that you thought nothing more of? Send it in for the chance to compete in a contest to be used as artwork in the Clubhouse Foyer! Submit your best photo(s) that signifies Lake Ashton living for consideration by August 31 to valerie@lakeashtoncdd.com. Each resident can submit up to three photos for consideration.
