The Heritage Voice Featuring Heritage Intermediate School 4th & 5th Grade Writers Snowboy and Snowgirl By Lillian Streeter Late one icy frigid December night I awoke to a crash outside in my snowy yard. Quietly I tiptoed across my bedroom and peaked out the window! What I saw and what would happen next you may find very hard to believe. I saw a snowboy with a black top hat. His hat had one piece of red lace on it holding a piece of mistletoe. He was wearing a red and green scarf. I also saw a snowgirl wearing a green headband with a red leaf sticking out of it. She also had red wool mittens and a smaller red and green scarf. The thing that surprised me the most was that they were having a snowball fight! The snowgirl spotted me and said in a cheerful voice, “Hi, my name is Joy. This is my brother Peace. Come, and we will explain everything.” said Joy. I ran outside to hear the explanation. “Hi, my name is Lilly.” I said. “What were you going to explain to me?” “Oh, that’s right.” said Joy. “We need your help. Our king is very sick and you are good at science, right?” “Yes, I am!” I exclaimed. “We need science to make the right medicine.” said Joy. “What if I don’t help?” I replied. “We will all die.” said Peace in a very serious voice. “Ok, I will help!” I exclaimed. Joy said a magical spell and the next thing I knew I was wearing a very nice pink coat, pink mittens, pink snow boots, pink leggings, a pink scarf, a pink hat, and a cute pink shirt with polar bears on it. I followed Peace and Joy into an igloo castle. Inside the castle it was cold to me. But, Joy took off her scarf and put on an apron. Peace took off his scarf and put on an apron. Joy gave me an apron to wear as well. Joy led me into a room with a snowman wearing a crown on his head. “Hi, my name is King Jolly.” the snowman said. “I keep melting more and more each day no matter how cold it is!” said Jolly. “Your science skills are useful in this situation.” said Jolly. I asked the snowpeople how to make the medicine to save them. “You need to mix these.” said Joy, pointing to several colorful medicine bottles. “But the medicine is hot, so we can’t help! It also has to be mixed perfectly or King Jolly will melt instantly!” exclaimed Joy. “The only medicines you need are in the red, white, and the green bottles.” said Joy. “You must mix one tablespoon of red, one cup of green, and two cups of white medicine in that exact same order.” said Joy. “We will be waiting in another room.” said Peace. I carefully made the medicine and gave it to King Jolly. King Jolly immediately started to stiffen up. “He is cured!” exclaimed Joy and Peace together. “Thank you so much for saving us Lilly! We will always remember you and your kindness.” said King Jolly! “I will never forget you either!” I exclaimed. “Thank you for taking me to this wonderful place.” “I guess it is time to say goodbye” said Peace. Suddenly, I became surrounded by pink glitter. The next thing I knew I was home and in my pajamas. I was just in time for breakfast! I will never forget that wonderful night with my snowfriends! A Little Father Son Time By: Jayse Runyan Splash, splosh, splash, sploosh, reel, reel, reel. I turned to tell my dad I had something on the line. When I finally got the fish out of the water it felt slimy and heavy, but I did always like that feel of a fish. We didn’t have a measuring tape with us so we had to wait until we got home to measure it, and I didn’t really like that I had to wait to measure it. I was still bewildered about how big the fish was. I could hear the fish also going mop, mop in the boat. Weird. My dad started to get curious about how I caught it. (He started looking at the bait.) Then we started moving again to the next fishing spot, so I got really excited because I have a chance to catch an even bigger fish. We had so much fun it was just me and him a little father son time. I wouldn’t stop saying, “This is so much fun.” The hum of the mother was like a lullaby soothing both of us. We started to head home to show my mom a big fish. When we were going back to the house I realized that I now know where the fish are. Then, She touched the electrodes and so did Zay dark. Zay Dark turned into ashes and then sky volt said to Harry, “You’re sky Volt now.” and that was her last words.
