Dear Amy, Let’s start with you hating cold calls. If you truly hate them it will unfortunately come across in the tone of your voice. This in itself may be stopping you from getting through. Sure no one really likes cold calls but the tone of your voice is crucial in getting through a gatekeeper. There are 5 reasons to make a cold call, one is to get a yes! Two is to get a No! (Yes we want the no) Three is to get a referral (Maybe they know someone that could use what you have) Four is to learn a lesson, this is great, maybe you learn who the decision maker is or even what the name of the gatekeeper. Then the last one is clear - it’s next steps. Maybe you are getting back with them after the holiday, or when they have their next budget meeting. Remember, every call doesn’t have to be successful only if you get the meeting. Just the fact that you made a cold call is a win! John J.
