The training will cover the residential requirements of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) which is the same as Chapter 11 of the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC). Both became effective on October 1, 2016 with the adoption of the 2016 Connecticut State Building Code. It will also cover the thermal and air leakage requirements of the building envelope including fenestration, insulation requirements for the mechanical systems, testing requirements of the thermal envelope and the air distribution system, and other system requirements. REScheck will be discussed as a compliance document for the submission with the application for a building permit. The session will also have an example showing one way to meet the requirements of the code along with the accompanying sample REScheck. He has over 45 years of experience in public works administration, engineering, economic development and customer relations with electric and gas utilities. He has previously served on ASHRAE committees and is a current member of Connecticut’s Codes and Standards Committee.
