Mayor Patty Gregory is the first female Mayor of Belleville in 207 years! Mayor Gregory shared many GAME CHANGERS that Belleville has seen since August 2021 with $12m+ in projects such as: Lindenwood has successfully transformed into a training facility for State police, 1800 Sheriffs and upcoming forensic training for SIUE students. SIU is building out the library to incorporate a law school. SWIC is moving their Police Academy Training here and Lanter Corporation is bringing their Basketball Youth Program to the facilities. CAVE, the Center for Academic & Vocational Education, includes Carpentry along with 4 other trades and is the only facility like this in Illinois! Commercial permits have increased. Belleville received a grant for $350k with many improvements to be made. New Police contract in place after finding their pay was below most neighboring towns, these revisions have increase the force with a goal to be at 80 Police Officers in the near future. 2023 will bring a Splash Pad to town. The Executive Inn has turned over their deed to Belleville with big plans to demolish starting right away. A new 11,000 sq. ft. City Market will be built across from the BND building that will be open year round on Thursday & Friday nights and Saturday & Sunday daytime hours.
