Faculty and Staff Updates and Awards New Department Chair: Christopher Timmins has been appointed Chair of the Department of Real Estate & Urban Land Economics. Chris is the Gary J. Gorman Affordable Housing Professor and serves as the faculty director of the Affordable and Sustainable Housing Development (ASHD) Track. Since stepping into the role, Chris has hit the ground running — leading new faculty hires and actively reviewing initiatives to shape the department’s future. He succeeds Yongheng Deng, and we extend our sincere thanks to Yongheng for his steadfast leadership during a period of remarkable growth, new initiatives, and key faculty and staff additions. New Hire: Nick Adams, Administrative Program Manager: Nick Adams joined us as Administrative Program Manager from the College of Engineering, where he served as an academic advisor. He brings extensive experience in curriculum development, teaching, and student support, gained from his years as a high school teacher in the Madison Public Schools and in higher education advising. George Bloom Award: Professor Yongheng Deng received the George Bloom Award, American Real Estate and Urban Economic Association, the lifetime service award of the association. Faculty Research Cited in New York Times: The research of Dayin Zhang and Alina Arefeva were cited in two articles in The New York Times this year. Zhang and Arefeva are both Assistant Professors in the Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics at the Wisconsin School of Business.
