Christmas Magic transforms the town into a twinkle-lit wonderland, complete with holiday activities, outdoor skating, festive treats, and just enough snow to make everything look like a movie set. We bundle up, grab a hot chocolate, and stroll through the lights like we’re living our own Hallmark moment. It’s easy to see why this has become a beloved holiday tradition — and a must-visit experience for anyone looking to capture the spirit of the season. GET THE INSIDE SCOOP Want to experience Cobourg like a local? We asked three of our team members to share their hidden gems, and must-do activities around town. THE BEST HIDDEN GEM Everyone talks about the beach, but the boardwalk is where locals go to clear their heads. It’s perfect for a quick stroll to get your steps in — or a longer walk to unwind after a busy day. Peaceful, scenic, and — bonus — usually quiet. You’ll spot birds, feel the lake breeze, and pass the occasional local walking their dog like they own the place (because, technically, they do). Dining AND LOCAL FLAVOUR From the Shores of St. Martin to the Streets of Cobourg Cucina Urbana isn’t just an Italian kitchen; it’s a fresh start, a family affair, and a love letter to good food. After Hurricane Irma swept away their St. Martin restaurant, seasoned restaurateurs Mike and Teresa set their sights on Cobourg, drawn by the town’s charm and close-knit community. With decades of experience and a passion for hospitality, they opened Cucina Urbana, a vibrant eatery where authentic Italian flavours take centre stage. At the heart of the kitchen is Executive Chef Ryan Ortiz, whose journey from a Niagara Falls apprenticeship to Toronto’s high-energy culinary scene has shaped a menu that’s both refined and comforting. Every dish, from silky handmade pasta to perfectly charred Neapolitan-style pizza, is crafted with care, fresh ingredients, and a deep respect for tradition. Cucina Urbana is the kind of place where the wine flows freely, the food is made to be shared, and every visit feels like a celebration. Whether you’re grabbing a casual bite, toasting a special occasion, or indulging in a slow, wine-filled evening, this is Cobourg’s answer to dining like an Italian — no passport required. cucinaurbana.ca 905-377-9100 20 EXPERIENCECOBOURG.CA

WHERE LOCAL HEART MEETS GLOBAL FLAVOUR Greg and Amanda da Silva traded Toronto’s hustle for Northumberland’s charm, bringing their passion for food, community, and good times with them. The EL is more than just a place to eat — it’s a gathering spot where familiar comforts and worldly flavours come together. The menu is inspired by their travels but rooted in local love, featuring everything from perfectly grilled burgers to unexpected dishes bursting with international flair. Whether you’re sipping on a handcrafted cocktail, sampling a craft beer, or lingering over a glass of wine from far-off vineyards, every bite and sip feels like part of a story — one that Greg and Amanda have crafted with care. But there’s more to The EL than just great food. Fans of Ginny & Georgia might recognize it as The Blue Farm Cafe, the meeting spot where characters work, eat, and catch up in the hit Netflix series. While the cameras have stopped rolling, the inviting atmosphere remains. With curated art on the walls, swankyyet-comfy furniture, and the warm hum of conversation (or live music on select nights), The EL embodies everything Greg and Amanda set out to create: a space where great food, great people, and great memories come together. theelcobourg.com 289-252-2282 The EL featured in Ginny & Georgia as the Blue Farm Cafe 21 YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE

SHAPED BY WATER CHARACTERS OF COBOURG WHO: MANDY LEE WHAT: SUP CULTURE WHERE: COBOURG HARBOUR “Before the town wakes up, there’s this quiet beauty—the mist on the water, the fishing boats, the sun rising. It’s pure magic.” Before stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) became a local favourite on Cobourg’s waterways, Mandy Lee was already embracing the tranquil mornings and rhythmic strokes of paddling along the Trent Canal. When she discovered SUP, it felt like a natural fit—light, fun, and freeing. Mandy co-founded Green Canoe Outfitters, a small shop that introduced paddle boarding to the community with free demos and an inclusive, welcoming vibe. Though the shop has since closed, its impact is still felt throughout Cobourg. SUP culture took hold, and Mandy continued to share her passion for the sport, offering rentals, group lessons, and the popular Paddle and Pints social sessions. Her approach has always been about making SUP accessible to everyone. Whether it’s SUP Bootcamp, stretch classes, or a peaceful sunrise float, each session begins with the basics: safety, comfort, and an open invitation to get out on the water. “It doesn’t have to be intense,” Mandy says. “It can be fun, peaceful, or whatever you need it to be.” In addition to her SUP offerings, Mandy also runs Lakeside Shuttle, another part of her local business. Lakeside Shuttle provides private rides, custom day trips, and scenic wine tours to nearby hotspots, including Prince Edward County. It’s the perfect way to explore Cobourg and beyond, with Mandy’s signature laid-back, personal touch. Today, Cobourg’s calm harbour and sandy beach launches remain the ideal spots to try paddle boarding, whether you’re paddling at dawn or winding down after a busy day. With Lakeside Shuttle, getting around and exploring has never been easier. 43 YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE

DIRECTOR’S CUT CHARACTERS OF COBOURG WHO: SARAH CLEVELAND WHAT: EYE2EYE FILM FESTIVAL WHERE: CONCERT HALL AT VICTORIA HALL “The support from our Board at Film Access Northumberland, our dedicated volunteers, and the community is what makes this festival truly special.” Sarah Cleveland didn’t plan on running a film festival. In fact, she stumbled into it the same way most of us stumble onto our next big thing, by answering a Facebook post. It was 2021, and someone had shared a listing for a local outdoor screening of Murdoch Mysteries in Cobourg’s Victoria Park. Sarah showed up, grabbed a lawn chair, and left with a new obsession. A few short years later, she’s not just attending the Eye2Eye Film Festival, she’s directing it. Now in her second year at the helm, Sarah has turned a small, scrappy event into a full-blown celebration of cinematic storytelling. She’s upped submissions, brought in a wave of new talent, and made space for everyone, from high school students debuting their first short to industry veterans leading masterclasses. But ask her about the highlight, and she won’t talk about ticket sales or red carpets. “Watching young local filmmakers grow in confidence and skill, honestly, it’s the best part,” she says. For Sarah, Eye2Eye isn’t just about movies. It’s about giving people the chance to see themselves — on screen, behind the camera, in the audience. She’s proof that sometimes, the best stories are the ones that start with “I didn’t expect to be here.” filmaccessnorthumberland.ca 51 YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE

5 Sometimes a town plays itself. Other times, it becomes something entirely new—a 1900s Toronto, a New England seaside escape, or a backdrop for an intergalactic arcade battle. Pixels (Columbia) Adam Sandler and his crew brought big-screen excitement to Cobourg in the sci-fi adventure Pixels. Victoria Park and the entire downtown transformed into scenes straight out of classic arcade games. While Pac-Man won’t be chasing dots along the boardwalk today, you can still explore these iconic spots and experience where Hollywood movie magic came to life. Murdoch Mysteries (CBC) Time travel, without the time machine. This Canadian period drama loves Cobourg’s wellpreserved 19th-century buildings, using Victoria Hall and other historic spots to recreate early 1900s Toronto. If you’ve ever wanted to step onto a Murdoch Mysteries set, just take a walk downtown. Ginny & Georgia (Netflix) Cobourg does a great impression of a quaint New England town in this hit mother-daughter drama. Whether it’s the charming downtown streets or the lakeside views, the town’s picture-perfect setting fits right into the series’ warm and quirky vibe. Close to You (TIFF Official Selection) Cobourg stars as itself in this film as it unfolds with a raw, improvisational style, capturing the emotional complexity of returning home and reconnecting with family. You’ll recognize downtown and a popular café as you watch. Cobourg isn’t just a great place to visit, it’s a place you’ve already visited, at least on screen. Now it’s time to see it in real life. 55 YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE

NOSTALGIC NOVEMBER CHARACTERS OF COBOURG WHO: HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS WHAT: ANNUAL REUNION TRIP WHERE: BREAKERS MOTEL ON THE LAKE “We love walking back to the Breakers through Victoria Park with the snow falling and the twinkling lights shining. It’s magical.” Every year, on the last weekend of November, a group of high school friends, now scattered across Ontario with full calendars and grown-up responsibilities, hits pause to reconnect somewhere between Ottawa, Waterloo, Hamilton, and wherever else life has taken them. They tried the usual suspects: Collingwood, PEC, even Toronto, but nothing really stuck. And then they landed on Cobourg. Not flashy, not far, just right. Now five years in, their annual escape is basically locked in. They book the same waterfront cottage at Breakers on the Lake, where the sound of waves replaces notifications and the pace slows way down. Mornings are quiet, coffee in hand, lake in view, and by afternoon they’re out wandering downtown: tacos at Tezca, brunch at Craft Food House, or pasta comas courtesy of Cucina Urbana. They always time it for Cobourg’s Christmas Magic, because what’s better than strolling back through Victoria Park with a takeout hot chocolate and the snow falling like a made-forTV movie? One year it was a spa day at Fieldstone. Another time, a Guess Where Trip: One Day Mystery Road Trip through Northumberland County. Last time, they detoured to Haute Goat to meet some goats and bleat into the sky (therapeutic, really). They’ll tell you it’s the quiet beach, the twinkly lights, the window shopping, and the “just one more glass of wine” nights that keep them coming back. But really? It’s Cobourg’s come-as-you-are vibe, and a shared history rooted in Northumberland that makes it feel like home. 61 YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE

THANKS FOR VISITING. COME BACK ANYTIME. We’re so glad you stopped by! Whether you stayed for the afternoon or made a weekend of it, we hope you enjoyed the shoreline breezes, shops, and small-town charm. As you wrap up your visit (or start planning your next one), here are a few gentle reminders on how to be the kind of guest every town hopes for. BE GOOD TO NATURE Our parks, trails, and conservation areas are full of life—let’s keep them that way. Stick to marked paths to avoid trampling native plants and animals, and remember: if you brought it in, take it out. If you spot a stray coffee cup or snack wrapper, toss it in the bin. Future beachgoers will thank you, and so will we. Bonus points for cutting back on single-use plastics while you’re here — our waterfront prefers a low-waste look. THE BEACH RULES, YOU KNOW Yes, it’s gorgeous. And yes, your dog is adorable. But not every section of the beach (definitely not the main one) is dog-friendly, so be sure to check the signs for designated pet areas. Keep your pup leashed in public and always scoop the poop (even the tiny ones!). Also, skip feeding the gulls and ducks — they’re not starving, and they’re much better behaved when sticking to their natural diet. KEEP IT LOCAL To truly experience Cobourg like a local, shop, eat, and stay local. Independent businesses give this town its unique charm, and every purchase helps keep it that way. Whether you’re picking up a handmade gift or grabbing lunch at a downtown cafe, you’re supporting real people doing what they love. PARK AND WANDER Instead of driving from one photo op to the next, park once and explore on foot, rent a bike, or hop on the ride-on-demand transit. It’s better for the planet, easier on traffic, and a lot more fun than circling for a parking spot. LEAVE NO TRACE Simple rule: take only memories, leave only footprints. That includes garbage, cigarette butts, and rogue sandwich wrappers. Let’s keep our parks, trails, and beach picnic-ready for the next visitor (or your next visit). SNAP THOUGHTFULLY Take as many photos as you like—this place was practically built for your camera roll. Just be mindful around private homes and local businesses. Not everyone wants to be part of your slideshow, so when in doubt, ask before snapping. That’s it! Keep it kind, keep it clean, and come back soon. We’ll leave the lights on.

COVER ART BY: Noah Raymond, a grade 11 student, shares her favourite things to do in Cobourg, offering a fresh perspective on the town’s best spots. Plus, she painted the cover of this guide, adding her personal touch to the local scene! Where’s the most inspirational spot in Cobourg? As someone who mostly paints landscapes and water, I draw a lot of inspiration from Lake Ontario and the beautiful sunsets seen from the beach and marina. Best way to spend a sunny day in Cobourg? Going to the beach and buying an icecream with friends is my favourite. Hidden gem you think people should visit? The west pebble beach boardwalk, with its gardens is beautiful. /nobear_art EXPERIENCECOBOURG.CA 888 262 6874
