HEAD COACH NOTES Hello & a very warm welcome to Gorton street this spring Saturday afternoon from all at Eccles RFC The senior men welcome Ormskirk RUFC to the home of the men in blue & white hoops today and Eccles Captain James Wright will be wanting a better performance from his men than he got from them in their last outing over in Oldham a week ago. Looking back to the game at Ormskirk early in the season Eccles dominated the first half with some exceptional rugby but didn’t score the points to put the game to bed allowing Ormskirk’s confidence to grow entering the second half which saw an end to end second 40 which Eccles managed to come away from victorious. Little did I know then that this game was going to be the story of Eccles’s season seeing very little commitment to playing rugby on a weekly basis from the squad especially more senior players, allowing a vast amount of players new to the club as well as transitioning Colts to gain valuable but sometimes frustrating minutes at first team level. Eccles finish the season with 2 home games over the easter period and I’m confident we can continue to develop as a group giving opportunities to these young men to support their personal journey’s which I’m certain will benefit the club next season & the season’s to follow after that. Thanks for coming I hope you have a great afternoon. Sam Simpson // Eccles RFC Director of Rugby
