Kneeling - Danny Williams, Dave Hunt, Greg Smith, Chris Summerton, Trevor Howarth, Phil Hayes, Martin Cooke. 50 years ago - 16th September 1971 - reported that Eccles RFC fly-half Phil Hayes was playing in a Lancashire trial game at Old Bedians ground. He had been Captain of the Eccles Colts team 1968/1969 and 1969/70. During the 1971/72 Season Eccles were fielding four Senior teams and a Colts team. From the Journal, "Eccles are able to field five teams each weekend with comparative ease. They got a morale boost on Saturday when four teams returned handsome victories.
