Post Office Box 7200 Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502 t: 770.967.8500 · f: 770.967.3757 EagleRanch.org OUR MISSION Eagle Ranch helps make life better for children and their families, positively impacting communities for the glory of God. Reflections Every May, Eagle Ranch celebrates the graduation of children and their families from our program. I was privileged to attend the ceremonies that honored each graduate. Perseverance was a major theme. Each graduate was described as having pushed through hard times when they really wanted to quit. Each of these families was prepared to go to battle to make their lives better. One single mother created a motto for her and her son: “Whatever it takes.” Years of struggles and doing whatever it took led them to Eagle Ranch. To hear this young man join his mom in ownership of this motto, and thank her for fighting for him until he could fight for himself, was so encouraging. Our staff works hard to help boys and girls persevere and build resilience through the Eagle Ranch program. But what I found particularly profound were the stories of children helping each other get through tough times. As families got acquainted through parent groups, they also helped each other through their common struggles. It’s a human tendency to isolate in pain, but a community of love like Eagle Ranch can be a wonderful tool for healing. We feel humbled, grateful and encouraged by what God does here in our midst. Thank you for your support, which makes this work possible. Sincerely, Kayanne Staub Wife of Founder and Executive Director Eddie Staub
SUMMER FUN summer fun SUMMER IS AN IMPORTANT TIME AT EAGLE RANCH New children are moving onto our campus, joining those who are continuing in our program. To help new boys and girls acclimate to the Ranch and build relationships, a variety of activities are planned. Some summer fun is just that– pure fun – but other games and activities are designed for team-building and establishing trust and communication.
Eagle Ranch 2018 graduates (L to R): Armani, Dylan, Austin, Hunter, Noah and James.
CELEBRATING HOME Although graduation represents something different for each family, there is one thing true for all: their children are returning home. For Eagle Ranch, graduation means a child and family have met their goals and possess the skills and tools they need to successfully navigate future difficulties with increased resilience. Families cited love and support as the most important things they received during their child’s season at Eagle Ranch. Each graduate was celebrated during a special ceremony conducted for their family members, friends, fellow housemates and families who shared the journey. Eagle Ranch 2018 Graduates HUNTER • AGE 15 • THE LOVE HOME "Before I came to the Ranch, my family was always arguing. I couldn’t control my anger, and I would lash out at my dad and siblings. Since I’ve been at Eagle Ranch, I have learned self-control. When I get upset about something now, I’m able to talk about it instead of bottling it up. Our communication as a family has improved, and we are finally beginning to trust each other." NOAH • AGE 15 • THE PEACE HOME "I couldn’t have gotten through the program without the support of my parents. They were always by my side and encouraged me to keep going. I believe that God can do anything, and that prayer works. My dad prayed with me a lot when I was struggling, and I plan to do that same thing with my kids in the future." JAMES • AGE 16 • THE PEACE HOME "Eagle Ranch made my life so much better. I’ve learned to respect others and their opinions. I’ve also learned to not be so judgmental. I’ve learned to do my best in being understanding with my mom and with my family. I’ve gotten closer to my stepdad and my siblings, and our relationships have improved."
Eagle Ranch 2018 Graduates ARMANI • AGE 17 • THE PEACE HOME "Life used to be pretty bad. I would argue with my mom, and my brother and I hardly spoke. Our relationships are a whole lot better than they were before Eagle Ranch. My brother and I are now close friends and spend hours together. I’m more confident and can be myself around other people. If it wasn’t for the Ranch, I don’t know where I would be. Since I’ve been at Eagle Ranch, I feel like I’ve been living life to the fullest because now I actually know what life truly is." DYLAN • AGE 13 • THE HOPE HOME "One of the most impactful things I’ve learned is selfcontrol and personal responsibility. If you don’t have any personal responsibility for your actions, you can’t have any self-control. You can only change if you realize you’re the one responsible for your actions." AUSTIN • AGE 16 • THE PEACE HOME " "When I first got to the Ranch, everything was hard. My Mom and I argued a lot, and I made a lot of mistakes. Life is a lot better now. It's not perfect, but I’ve grown, and we’ve both learned how to work together. Eagle Ranch has made a big difference for us."
“We came to Eagle Ranch not just to work on Hunter, but to work on our whole family. It’s because of Eagle Ranch and the amazing support from everyone here that we’ve completed the program. I’ve seen my son mature so much through our time here, and I’m so proud of him. Thank you, Eagle Ranch, for helping our family.” BO F., FATHER OF EAGLE RANCH GRADUATE, HUNTER Eagle Ranch Graduate Hunter (center), pictured with his dad and siblings.

Max Effort Pays Off A school year full of hard work culminated with one more challenge: a triathlon. For the 5th year, volunteer coaches with Tri-Kids, Inc. spent months helping train and prepare Eagle Ranch boys and girls for the event. The super sprint course included a 250-yard swim, 8-mile bike ride and 2.25-mile run. This year’s triathlon theme was “Max Effort,” teaching our children that their best effort is more important than the end result. For some, that included learning how to swim or ride a bike for the first time and celebrating their accomplishments at the event.
8 Eagle Ranch graduate Shane Sullards and his sons, Kaden (9) and Kolter (7). Sullards’ company, Lake Lanier Canopy Tours, was one of the event sponsors.
OUR THIRD ANNUAL RUN THE RANCH WAS OUR BIGGEST EVENT YET, DRAWING 350 PARTICIPANTS The morning featured three events perfect for families, athletes and nature lovers: a Fun Run, 5K and Nature Walk. More than 75 volunteers helped make the day possible. THANKS TO OUR PRESENTING SPONSOR Over 20 sponsors helped ensure all proceeds from the event went directly to helping our mission of making life better for struggling children and their families.
