10 Abdulkadir Mohamed English and ICT student and CNWL Corporation Member Abdul started at the College on Entry 1 ESOL and has raced through levels of study so quickly that he is now on a Level 3 ICT course. He has also given a lot of his own time to representing his peers as a Class rep, ambassador and student council member. In 2016 he was chosen by other students to become a member of the College Corporation, its governing body. “Ever since I came here I have enjoyed being able to take responsibility. Starting out on the student council, it was a dream to become a governor because I enjoy working with people of different ages and interacting with staff. This College has given me many opportunities.” Amanda Astahova ICT student and WorldSkills UK regional winner and national finalist Amanda won the Gold Medal in the IT Software Solutions for Business category in the WorldSkills UK Southern Region heats in June 2016. CNWL students also won six other medals in IT categories. “I am very proud to have been invited to take part today and winning first place is fantastic. At this College I have been able to come through from learning basic Maths and English to studying advanced IT, and I’m now working hard preparing for the finals of the national competition.”
