 Continued from previous page The COVID-19 crisis might not be over but seems to be finally ebbing away. Other challenges continue to threaten global peace and harmonious relations among nations and territories. The likely consequences of Climate Change loom large, especially for Small Island and Coastal Developing States, such as our CARICAD member states. Survival is the primary concern of millions. The most persistent and pernicious challenges of modern life may bring despondency, rather than hope, and hardship, rather than joy. It seems to be a more difficult, painful, and gloomier world. Yet, we can draw comfort from the momentous story of Christmas. Certainly, we must always be driven by love, empathy, understanding, forgiveness, and a desire for peace, rather than discord.
