bransonglobe.com LOCAL Correction to April 17 article ‘Branson couple makes condos available to healthcare workers’ By Brenda Meadows Branson Globe Staff Writer Our April 17 article ‘Branson couple makes condos available to healthcare workers’ required some correction. We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. This is how the article should read: Branson Performer Christopher James and his wife Rachael own a number of empty rental units. The couple thought their half dozen units could provide free housing for local health care workers needing to quarantine themselves or their families since they work in such a contagious environment. The calls for lodging they’ve received have mostly been from local Cox employees taking advantage of their offer. “I haven’t had to stay yet, but as I said to him, I have four young daughters all with respiratory issues and a wife with severe asthma which puts them all in a higher risk category with this virus,” Alan Hickman said. “TCAD has provided beds for us to stay in if we want to isolate from our families, but if we are quarantined we obviously can’t use those beds without exposing the rest of the company. Before I saw his offer I didn’t have a plan on where I’d stay if I do have an exposure. All of us on our shift have been very humbled by the support of the community, in food donations, hand sewn masks, kind words of encouragement and with Christopher a safe clean place to stay.” City Finance Department creates a detailed report on fiscal health Submitted to the Branson Globe The City of Branson’s Finance Department has reviewed and adjusted all budgets to come up with a solid financial plan that will sustain all ongoing operations of the community in light of any financial impacts of COVID-19. Overall, the City is in good financial health due to being fiscally responsible, budget cuts and maintaining healthy reserves. The City Finance Department has created a detailed report on its fiscal health update. You can find that report by clicking on “2020 Fiscal Update” under “Financial” on our website at http://bransonmo.gov/299/Reports. Travis Bell is a Physicians Assistant who works in the Emergency Room at Cox Branson. and lives in Springfield. “A PA is a different kind of medical degree than MD or DO,” he said. “I have a masters degree instead of doctorate, but I still pretty much take care of the same patients a doctor does in the ER. Everything from strokes and heart attacks to COVID-19 patients. My wife found Christopher online when we were looking for me a place to stay.” His wife Bethany is expecting a baby, and he is wanting to keep her safe and near him. “I am trying to do everything I can to prevent her from getting sick and losing the baby,” he said. “I am currently sleeping in a different room from my wife and we try to keep our distance from each other while I am home. I am not that concerned about my own well being since the death rate for a 30 year old is only ~.2%. I got the keys to the condo yesterday, but have not moved in yet. I am trying to get some projects done at home first since I don’t know when I will be back. I hope all of this is over by August so I can be at the birth of my son and meet him in person.” May 15-16, 2020 • 3 Pets of the Week Tri-Lakes Humane Society, Reeds Spring Call (417) 272-8113 or visit www.tri-lakeshumanesoc.org CARMAN: “At just 1-1/2 years old, I found myself alone with a litter of kittens to care for. We had a wonderful rescuer, but she could no longer afford to care for us and brought us here to the shelter. Now that the kittens are weaned, I’m ready to be your sweet kitty!” FRANNIE: “I am a 3-year-old Terrier mix who was all alone in the world, which I don’t understand because I am so much fun! I love tennis balls and kong toys, and I know how to use a doggy door, and behave on a leash. I would love to be your one and only girl. Come meet me!
