Vogler T here were 56 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Saugus over the past week through Wednesday (Dec. 14). The new cases reported by the state Department of Public Health (DPH) over the past week increased the overall total to 10,272 confirmed cases since the outbreak of the global pandemic in March of 2020, according to Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree. This week’s total was an increase of 17 over the number of newly confirmed cases reported last week. The r e we r e no new COVID-19-related deaths over the past week, as the death toll remained at 100. “Our hearts and prayers go out to those families affected by this health pandemic,” Crabtree said. The parade is set to start tomorrow (Christmas Eve, Dec. 24) at 6 p.m. from the Central Fire Station on Hamilton Street and will finish on Central Street in Saugus Center at 9 p.m. Santa Claus will receive an T escort from the police and fire departments. “Santa would like to see as many children as possible, so listen for the sirens and come out and greet Santa as he passes by,” says Buddy the Elf in a note on the parade that was recently released.
