THE SAUGUS ADVOCATE – FriDAy, AUGUST 21, 2026 Page 5 Vandals destroy picnic tables at World Series Park P olice are investigating reports of “massive vandalism” over the weekend (August 14-15) at World Series Park at 25 Dow St., behind Belmonte STEAM Academy. Bob Davis, the superintendent of the park, reported the destruction of the picnic benches under the pavilion and observed that one bench was placed on the pitcher’s mound. “This vandalism doesn’t make sense,” Davis said this week. “What kind of enjoyment does anyone get from destroying the property of others? Those benches and the pavilion are for the enjoyment of people attending baseball games. We will be looking at surveillance video to try to identify those responsible. As a result of this kind of destruction, we’re thinking of eliminating the picnic benches,” he said. Davis reported seeing two individuals under the pavilion at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
