The deadline to mail back the application to receive a mail-in ballot is 5 p.m. on Aug. 25. To receive a primary ballot, the voter must select Democratic or Republican on the postcard. Voting by mail-in ballot in a primary will not enroll you in a political party. Saugus Town Clerk Ellen Schena said the Early Voting Card return as of Tuesday (Aug. 11) morning was 2,241 – 1,671 Democratic Party and 570 Republican Party for the upcoming primary. “At the same exact time 2 years ago in 2024 the count for mail in EV ballots was as follows: 3034 (1969 Dem & 904 Rep). So over 800 less,” Schena told The Saugus Advocate this week. Registered voters also have the option to participate early, in person if they are concerned that they may not be able to vote on Primary Election Day. In-Person Early Voting for the Sept. 1 State Primary Election will begin on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Saugus Public Library, at 295 Central St. Voters should enter through the Taylor Street Entrance. This is also the last day to register to vote in the election. For the most part, they were Saugus Little League board members at one time. Today, they are coming up with the decisions to make sure the Saugus Babe Ruth League thrives for many years to come. Making up this year’s board is Benoit (president), Natallucci (vice president), Tom Vitiello (treasurer), Jessica DeThomas (social media director), Yat Voong (umpire-in-chief), Sal Beatini (fundraising director) and Miranda (Major Team Director). The program grew to two teams – Major (ages 14-16) and Prep (ages 12-13) – this spring, and both were very successful during the regular season. The Major team, in fact, went undefeated.But during the state tournament, the respective allstar teams didn’t fare as well. They each failed to record a BABE RUTH | SEE PAGE 8
