Page 4 THE SAUGUS ADVOCATE – FriDAy, AUGUST 14, 2026 An aspiring Saugus nurse receives ConvenientMD Scholarship A ddisyn Brown, 19, of Saugus, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from ConvenientMD as part of the organization’s annual Student Scholarship Program. She is a recent graduate of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in Lynn. Addisyn plans to study at Simmons University, with aspirations of becoming a nurse. In her essay, she focused on her own health limitations and how people told her she “can’t,” but that she wants to prove them wrong. She believes in showing comfort and understanding to patients, because she’s been in their shoes and knows how important it is when facing a diagnosis, according to a spokesperson for ConvenientMD. “Our Scholarship Committee was incredibly impressed by Addisyn Brown’s commitment to academic excellence and passion for compassionate care,” said Stephanie Buell, community partnerships manager at ConvenientMD. “This scholarship is one of the many ways ConvenientMD invests in the communities we serve, and we’re excited to support students who are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of others.” This year, ConvenientMD awarded a total of $20,000 in scholarships to 11 graduating seniors across Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts who plan to pursue higher edBirthdays are special at the Senior Center (Editor’s Note: Saugus Senior Center Director Laurie Davis submitted the following article.) ConvenientMD operates 51 urgent care clinics across Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, including its location in Saugus, Mass. Clinics are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for minor emergency needs. Since launching the scholarship program in 2022, ConvenientMD has awarded more than $76,000 to students pursuing careers in healthcare. The program is one of many ways ConvenientMD supports healthier communities through educational initiatives, community partnerships and increased access to care. This special event was generously sponsored by Rich and Deb Johanson, in honor of their niece, Danielle LeBlanc’s birthday. The Senior Center likes to recognize a senior’s birthday on the last Friday of the month with a collective celebration.
