Page 6 THE SAUGUS ADVOCATE – FriDAy, JUly 31, 2026 WRAP-UP NIGHT FOR A CHAMPION TRACK TEAM M embers of the Saugus Sachems Track Camp gathered at William L. MacNeil Memorial Track and Field last week (July 22) for a team photo and to savor the team’s success earlier this month at a track meet in Cranston, R.I. The team, coached by Chris Tarantino, finished first place among the 18 teams competing in the Sixth Annual CLCF Summer Showdown. Sixty-four young Saugus athletes – 42 boys and 22 girls, ranging in age from five to 18 – made the trip to Cranston, where the team brought back three big trophies. The boys team won first place, the girls team placed third and the team finished first overall. It was the team’s biggest and best showing during the five years they have competed in the Summer Showdown. (Saugus Advocate photos by Mark E.
