National Grid began gas main work involving the installation of 260 linear feet of new gas main at 166-180 Central St. The project will include a section of roadway that crosses over the Saugus River. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and the target project completion date is approximately July 31, 2026. The utility was also scheduled to commence additional gas main work with 1,500 linear feet of new gas main at 386-413 Lincoln Ave. and 6-20 Kent St. Work will occur between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on MonFURNISHED ROOM FOR RENT EVERETT day through Friday, and the target project completion date is approximately September 15, 2026. OBITUARY Loriann PattiGoodwin Suspects in Saugus home invasion arraigned O n July 1, 2026, two suspects tied to the May 3 armed home invasion on Oakwood Avenue in Saugus were arraigned in Essex County Superior Court in Salem. Timothy Gregory, 55, of Boston, and Derek Matarazzo, 38, of Charlestown, appeared via Zoom before Judge Salim R. Tabit, according to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker. Authorities allege that Gregory and Matarazzo, wearing masks and carrying handguns, forced entry into a home, and Saugus Police, who responded to a 911 call shortly after noon that day, reported that multiple shots were fired but no one was injured.
