Giannino officially claimed a spot on the September 1 ballot after submitting the required certified signatures to the Secretary of State’s office in March. “We offer our support to Jessica because of her past commitment to the working men and women of the 16th Suffolk District,” said Local 328 Business Manager Richard Pedi. “Jessica has demonstrated her concern by shaping policies that will protect all workers’ rights and we believe she will continue to have a strong voice for organized labor.” The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America began in 1881 when 36 carpenters from 11 cities formed a national union with a constitution, a structure and two thousand members.
