Page 4 THE SAUGUS ADVOCATE – FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 2022 O ne of the local Earth Day activities took place on the North Shore Community College campus in Lynn last Friday (April 22). The college’s chapter of the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group (MassPIRG), the North Shore Community College Environmental Club and the Horticulture Department collaborated to plant a pollinator garden near the North entrance to the campus. Horticulture Department Chair Barbara Heath coordinated the event, and members of the faculty, staff and student community assisted in siting the garden as well as doing the digging, planting and watering. Sarah Johnson, a horticulture student from Saugus, was among those involved, and Adjunct Faculty member Laura Eisener, also of Saugus, attended the event. People who are concerned about the environment on a local level like to plant pollinator gardens to attract pollinators like bees, butterfl ies and hummingbirds, which rely on plants in the garden for food and habitat. The pollinators also help to maintain the ecosystem by pollinating plants that animals eat. We Sell Sell Cigars Cigars & AccessoriesAccessories R.YR.Y.O..O.
