Page 10 THE REVERE ADVOCATE – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2026 RHS Patriots Sport Roundup: Patriots look to regroup against Chelsea; volleyball posts winning week By Dom Nicastro evere High’s football team is looking to put a diffi cult night in Gloucester behind it and get back to.500 this week against Chelsea, while the Patriots’ volleyball team put together a 2-1 week and both crosscountry teams showed encouraging progress at Belle Isle. R Football Pats turns page after Gloucester loss Not much went right for Revere in a 42-6 loss to Gloucester. The Fishermen took control almost immediately, capitalizing on Revere turnovers and dominant line play to build a 21-0 lead after the fi rst quarter and a 35-0 advantage by halftime. “Total domination and so many mistakes by us in the fi rst 10 minutes of the game just knocked us totally out of the game,” Revere coach Lou Cicatelli said. Revere fumbled deep in its own territory early, and another turnover on special teams compounded the problems. Gloucester repeatedly took possession with a short fi eld. “Before you know it, they get the ball four times inside that 20-yard line, and they got four touchdowns,” Cicatelli said. “You gotta’ stop making mistakes, especially, you know, fundamentals, the penalties, things like that.” “Their off ensive line, defensive line, best we’ve seen,” Cicatelli added. There was one late bright spot. Sophomore Ismael Romero-Gonzalez broke loose for a 95-yard touchdown run with under two minutes remaining to prevent the shutout. “We like this kid,” Cicatelli said. “He’s a sophomore. He’s a good player.” Rather than dwell on the loss, Cicatelli opted not to review the game fi lm with his players and immediately shifted the focus to Chelsea (at Chelsea, Friday, Oct. 2, 6 p.m.) and an opportunity for Revere to improve to 2-2. The Patriots remain banged up. Lots of key players are sidelined. Revere should get a boost from the return of Jose Fuentes, who is expected to see time at tailback. Cicatelli also plans to give Sergio Peguero another opportunity at quarterback and lean more heavily on the running game. Chelsea presents its own challenges, particularly with its team speed and running backs. “They’re not bad,” Cicatelli said. “They’ve got a lot of team speed on defense. They sprint Revere’s Reda Atoui makes his way past Quincy defenders during their fi rst road win of the season. They’ve got a real good back — actually, two ample backs. I told the kids, if they get loose, you’ve got to make sure we tackle them.” Volleyball goes 2-1 during busy week Revere volleyball improved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Greater Boston League after winning two of three matches.
