The varsity roster includes Aleina Barreto, Isabella Cushing, Amira Djaider, Anna Doucette, Sofi a Guzman, Caleigh Joyce, Yasmeen Khamis, Sophia Lam, Sarah Lechheb, Rebecca Mercado, Saray Mosquera, Haley Peralta and Saniya Jean-Louis. New era begins for girls cross country Few Revere teams will enter the fall with as much room for growth as the girls cross country squad. Head coach Katie Sinnott has only one returning runner from last season, meaning much of the Patriots’ lineup will be learning the sport and discovering what it can accomplish along the way. “This year’s team is made up of mostly new to cross country runners as I have only one returning athlete,” Sinnott said. “This means there is a lot of room for growth and tons of potential.” Sinnott expects that inexperience to make the season esgelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forpecially rewarding. With runners starting from relatively fresh baselines, there should be opportunities to see tangible progress as the weeks pass. “There will be numerous opportunities for personal bests in races and the girls will see their running improve week to week,” Sinnott said. “I am excited to coach them and teach them about the benefits of longer distance running.” Senior captain Emma DeCrosta will provide the experience. DeCrosta has been with Sinnott for three years and enters the season following a strong spring track campaign and consistent summer training. Sinnott expects her to be among Revere’s strongest racers. “She has grown a lot over the years and become an integral part of the team,” Sinnott said. “I can count on her to lead any workout and demonstrate any skill. She is enthusiastic and welcoming, and outside of running she is a dedicated student.” DeCrosta is also helping promote the program through its Instagram account, @reverehsxc. Two newcomers Sinnott believes could make an early impact are sophomore Jaelyn Torres and senior Manuela Canaveral Gallego, both of whom enter the season with solid running backgrounds. Revere graduated two accomplished runners in Olivia Rupp and Rania Hamdani, who concluded their careers at last fall’s Division 2A state get how you made them feel.” This quote embodies the essence of Jodie’s life. Her beauty, both inside and out, was undeniably profound, as was her love for her family. She found great joy in her family home in NH and cherished every moment spent with her beloved father, Philip Sr. She had a fl air for making people feel special and loved, and she was fi ercely protective of those she held dear. She was a dear sister of Joseph Genualdo and his late wife Carolyn of Peabody, Philip Genualdo Jr. and his wife Louise of Peabody, and Garry Genualdo and his late husrace at Northfi eld Mountain. Their departure makes this season a signifi cant transition for the program, but Sinnott sees an opportunity to build another group of committed distance runners. “Overall throughout the season I hope to grow interest in the team and the sport,” Sinnott said.
