Revere’s Veterans Services Director, Marc Silvestri, resident Carl Svendsen and captains Bob Otolo, Steven Ferro Sr., and Steven Ferro teamed up to transport the nine boys and four leaders from Revere to the Boston Harbor Islands, using three boats. According to Scoutmaster Patrick McNair, the purpose of the trip was so that the middle school boys have an opportunity to earn a cooking and backpacking badge in order to attain the Eagle Scout rank when they are older. Before they sailed away for eight nautical miles, they commented on what would be the hardest part of the voyage. Each scout was responsible for carrying his own belongings, he said. And for Troop Guide Brody McNair, the most difficult part for him would be ensuring that scouts have the same items in their backpacks as when they arrived two days earlier. They returned home on Sunday at approximately 11 a.m., Silvestri said.
