According to founding member Juan Jaramillo, the Latino Council strives to achieve political and socioeconomic inclusion for people of color and to bring about change in vulnerable communities. Founding Latino Council member Juan Jaramillo said it was a celebration not only of the end of the year, but the beginning of a new year for the city with a growing number of Latinos empowering the community. Latino Council members Alex Amaya, Roberto Tobalino, Monse Torres Hood, Jose Manuel Arango and Gladys Oliveros. State Senator Joseph Boncore (D-Winthrop), who supported a $100,000 budget amendment for Amplify Latinx, said together, Latinos are stronger. Wendy Vega describes the Latino Council’s mission.
