In Bruno’ book, she tells the story of slavery’s history in upstate New York, uncovering her Dutch ancestors’ slave-holding past, leading to deep connections with the descendants of the enslaved people her family owned. She eventually met and became friends with Eleanor C. Mire, a fellow researcher and a descendant of a woman enslaved by one of Bruno’s Dutch ancestors. Join us for great discussion on family history, the complexities of slavery in the mid-Atlantic states and the challenges of racial reconciliation. This event is free and open to the public.
