Page 8 THE MALDEN ADVOCATE–Wednesday, November 24, 2021 Malden Cyclones head to national competition and seek community support An inspiring community story T he Pop Warner Malden Cyclones Cheerleading Team announced that they have set up a GoFundMe to cover travel costs for a competition starting December 4. The team is headed to the National Cheer and Dance championships in Florida to represent Boston at a national level. The power of community can truly help propel this team to new heights as they look to bring home a title. Here are three opportunities for the Malden community to support the Cyclones: 1. Malden Cyclones Going to Nationals – Cheerleading Head Coach Sunita Williams is raising funds and wrote, “I promise you, any amount would be truly appreciated. Malden Takes Florida – Cherise Hope is the Assistant Coach for the team, and she launched a GoFundMe to help get to Florida and coach her team to victory. • Fundraiser link: https://gf.me/ v/c/gfm/vatz6u-coach-reese • Malden Pop Warner Website: https://www.maldencyclones.net/ • Social Media: https://www. facebook.com/maldenpopwarner • Contact: maldencyclones@ gmail.com Malden Neighborhood Basketball League celebrates 36th season R egistration for the Malden Neighborhood Basketball League (MNBL) will take place on Monday, December 6 and Wednesday, December 8 at the Malden Police Station Community Room (800 Eastern Ave.) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Any Malden student in the 10th, 11th or 12th grade who does not play basketball for the schools’ basketball teams is eligible to play. Players who previously played in the league must register again to be eligible to play this year. Registration forms will be available in the schools’ main offi ce. All players must bring a completed form, the $50.00 registration fee and a school ID with them to register. Tryouts (everyone who tries out will make a team) will take place at the Ferryway School on Friday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. Completed registration forms along with the $50.00 registration fee and a school ID will be accepted at the tryouts but nobody will be added to a roster after the draft.
