Of those tested, there were 47 confirmed cases of the virus for a positivity rate of 1.66 percent during that time. That is more than the average state positivity rate of 1.3 percent. Last week’s positivity rate was 2.06 percent. That was higher than the state positivity average of 1.5 percent over the same period. Last week, as part of a color-coded system developed by state officials, Malden was among three dozen communities marked in yellow – designated for a “moderate risk” – on a state map for a group of 29 communities with a daily rate of 4 to under 8 cases per 100,000 over a previous 14-day reporting period. The highest bracket is marked on the map in red, for the 10 communities with a rate of 8 or greater. Malden had the state’s 27th highest rate last week. But with a recent reduction in its positivity rate, Malden dropped into the “green” category – the designation for communities with a daily average of fewer than 4 cases per 100,000 over a 14-day period.
