THE PAST | FROM PAGE 3 ideas, and new energy. THE FUTURE The COVID-19 pandemic that we find ourselves finally climbing out of has had a life changing impact on many. It has magnified the challenges we face in Ward 7. The encouraging news is that the federal government has stepped up in a big way with federal programs to address the impacts, in particular with the passing of the American Rescue Plan. This almost $2 trillion federal bill is focused on assisting those impacted the most by the pandemic. More important than anything for the next Ward 7 Councillor is a proven track record of advocacy and innovative thinking to gain access to this funding to help the vibrant, diverse community of Ward 7 recover from the toll the pandemic has taken and to utilize this once in a lifetime funding to solve problems in Ward 7. Forestdale Park residents Mary Jaspar and Diane Fischer, Ward 5 Councillor Barbara Murphy, and Forestdale Park residents Carmen Ledbury and Virginia Ruane I became convinced that Ward 7 needed a proven leader, with endless energy, an ability to engage the entire community, and compassion made possible only through a lifetime of highs and lows. With that, my decision was made. I would be seeking to succeed Neal Anderson as the next Ward 7 City Councillor. Over the next several months, I’ll be knocking on doors, visiting our parks, and finding every way I can to engage with the community to share with you my plan for Ward 7. I’m calling it the CHRIS plan, and it’s focused on specifics initiatives for Ward 7. I believe I’m the right person to lead Ward 7 to a recovery because, well, sometimes experience does matter. I look forward to a respectful campaign, focused on the issues and the residents of Ward 7. The residents of Ward 7 deserve nothing less. Chris Simonelli Candidate for Ward 7 City Councillor dents, families and teachers in remote classrooms was important to me. I wanted to keep helping students, especially in the remote setting.
