The Malden Police Department proudly celebrates and congratulates Animal Control Officer Kevin Alkins on his retirement after 27 years of dedicated service to the City of Malden. Since becoming Malden’s first full-time Animal Control Officer in 1999, Kevin has been a constant and familiar presence throughout our community. Whether responding to calls involving lost dogs, stray cats, injured birds, displaced wildlife, or any creature in need, Kevin approached every situation with compassion, professionalism, patience, and an unwavering commitment to both animals and the people who cared for them. For nearly three decades, Kevin Alkins has been much more than our Animal Control Officer, he has been a trusted colleague, a valued resource, and a true advocate for animals of every kind. His knowledge, experience, and willingness to help made him someone officers, city employees, residents, and neighboring communities could always count on. No matter the situation, Kevin was ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or answer the call.
