Page 22 THE MALDEN ADVOCATE – Friday, June 28, 2019 Celebrating a Century Claire Reardon turns 100 M ayor Gary Christenson and Ward 2 Councillor Paul Condon recently wished longtime Malden resident Claire Reardon a very happy 100th birthday. Reardon, who was born on May 20, 1919, at the Central Street Hospital in Somerville, grew up in Medford. After marrying her husband, John, in 1941 they made their home on Gale Street and in 1959 moved to 91 West St., where she still resides. Together they raised four wonderful children: Paul, John, Mary and Joseph. Reardon and her husband had many loving years together before he sadly passed away in 1988. Reardon has always been active in the community, volunteering for her children’s activities as well as the Immaculate Conception Parish, where she still serves as a Eucharistic Minister bringing communion and ministry to patients at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care center. She also very much enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. When Christenson asked Reardon what her secret is for to living such a long and healthy life, she responded that “walking” and “not smoking” have been key factors.
