Yes, Mrs. Marie Bionelli will definitely recover from a mere fall that broke a bone or two in her arm. She is Edgeworth tough and we, as a community, have her back. Get well soon, Marie (Don needs you back at King Neptune’s as soon as possible)! Spoke with longtime Malden guy Roy Tribble just last week. Roy was Malden Catholic Class of 1968, the very last class to graduate from the old building on Highland Avenue. We spoke of the many great classmates he had back in the day, the great view of Boston from his front porch, and of the passing of one of Malden’s finest, Richie Cavanaugh. Richard “Richie” Cavanaugh was born in Malden and lived his entire life in what he referred to as “God’s country.” He was a flat-out stud athlete and all-star Maldonian! His career scoring total of 132 points was a Northeastern record at the time and currently leaves him tied as NU’s 20th all-time point scorer. He was the recipient of the Walter A. Brown Trophy as the outstanding American collegiate hockey player two times. Yup, he’s in the NU Hall of Fame, too. A Malden Hall of Famer without a doubt. This is an oldie but goodie, for those that may have missed it the first time around. We are gonna have some fun with this one because we all love Ronny Cox. Well, most of us do. From the wicked clever mind of Malden’s Chris Zell, the man behind the success of Ronny and his brilliant local access TV show, “Live on Tape”: Top 10 Reasons Ron Cox Might Be Getting Old: 10. His exercise routine is limited to thinking about bending to touch his toes. 9. He forgets to look in the refrigerator when he can’t find his keys. 8. His hearing is so bad he can’t hear the people laughing at him. 7. His cartoon characters have aches and pains. 6. He complained about the music he was playing. 5. When he talks about “those young whippersnappers” he’s usually referring to Peter Levine. 4. He remembers his high school days as if they were yesterday but can’t remember yesterday. 3. When he reminisces about the good old days, it’s in black and white. 2. He gets up once a night to pee when he should get up three or four times. 1. He won’t remember I’ve used this same top 10 list for the last 20 years.
