Jason Lewis, officials cut ribbon at Stone Zoo Solar Array O n Friday, March 15, State Senator Jason Lewis and State Representative Mike Day joined Zoo New England President/CEO John Linehan to celebrate the recently installed large solar panel array at the Stone Zoo in Stoneham. This clean, renewable energy source will supply almost all of the power needs of the zoo, cutting carbon emissions, saving money on energy costs and providing a wonderful new educational opportunity for the thousands of families and young children who visit the zoo each year. Sen. Lewis and Rep. Day successfully secured $3 million in pandemic recovery (ARPA) funds in 2021 to make this project possible. Stone Zoo sign Creating a firefighter memorial columbarium for line of duty deaths he City of Malden is working to establish a memorial that stands as a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of our firefighters, especially those who have died in the line of duty. The Firefighter Memorial Improvement Project will include a memorial columbarium at Forest Dale Cemetery at the curT Forest Dale Cemetery (Courtesy photo) rent firefighters’ memorial site. There will be space to accommodate the cremains of 12-20 firefighters with room for expansion in the future. Designed to honor firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty, this sacred space will serve as a place of remembrance and reflection for both the families and communities they served.
